Chief of Siraha district hospital Dr. Murali Prasad Singh has returned home on Wednesday night – ten days after he was abducted by unidentified group.
According to his family sources, Dr. Singh came home safely in an ambulance at around 10 pm. He was abducted from Saptari district.

It is not clear who had abducted Dr. Singh. Many believe the hand of Indian criminal gangs in his abduction. Family sources say that Dr. Singh was kept somewhere across the border in India.

Dr. Singh met with reporters on Thursday morning where his nephew spoke on his behalf saying that he was taken to an Indian village adjoining Saptari district. Dr. Singh said he did not know his abductors. Dr. Singh also regretted that the police and administration had not done enough for his release. He, however, thanked media and his colleagues of medical profession for raising voices for his release.

He said that he was kidnapped because the abductors thought there was Rs 20 million in his house. When they realised that I did not have that amount, they set me free, he informed.

Meanwhile, the medical community has decided to withdraw their programmes of agitation. They had announced closing down Out Patient Department for three hours on Thursday and all services except emergency indefinitely from Friday demanding immediate release of Dr. Singh.
