President of Rastriya Janashakti Party (RJP) Surya Bahadur Thapa has appointed Keshar Bahadur Bista as the party general secretary.

Bista who used to head Democratic Nepal Party had merged his party with the RJP a few months ago.

Bista used to be Agriculture Minister during the King-led government. He is an old Panchayati hand and was associated with Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) for a long time after the restoration of democracy in 1990. He had also joined Nepali Congress (NC) for a brief period.
