As Maoists are set to join the interim legislature, they have said that they will claim the post of speaker in the interim legislature.

Talking to journalists on Sunday after the meeting of the lawmakers joining interim legislature from the Maoist side, Maoist spokesperson Krishna Bahadur Mahara said that they will create environment for holding the elections for the post of speaker.
The second largest party of the coalition government, CPN-UML had proposed to retain present speaker Subash Chandra Nemwang for the post of speaker in the interim period as well.
Maoist chairman Prachanda also said that they will claim the post adding, “However, they will try to find consensus for selecting the speaker.”

Maoist leaders said that they will strongly raise the agendas raised during the decade long insurgency in the interim legislature.
Maoist chairman Prachanda said that the meeting discussed about how to raise party’s agendas during the interim legislature.
The meeting also formed a nine member legislature managerial committee headed by party spokesperson Mahara.
Party chairman Prachanda and senior leader Dr. Babu Ram Bhattarai taught nominated lawmakers about the codes to be followed in the parliament and present issue in the parliament.
Ten people appointed by the Maoists from various field were not present on the occasion.
