According to reports, Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala, General Secretary of CPN-UML, Madhav Kumar Nepal, President of NC (Democratic), Sher Bahadur Deuba and Maoist chairman Prachanda discussed the proceeding of the interim parliament.

The meeting could not reach consensus as the Maoists did not agree on the proposal of NC, NC-D and CPN-UML of giving continuity to speaker and deputy speaker of the current HoR in the interim parliament.

Radio reports quoted Baluwatar sources as saying that Maoist chairman Prachanda demanded that their party should get either the post of speaker or deputy speaker.

The interim parliament will go for voting for these posts if consensus cannot be reached on this issue.

Earlier, Maoist spokesperson, Krishna Bahadur Mahara said that his party will create environment for holding elections of the post of speaker.

Meanwhile, senior leader of the interim parliament will chair the first session of the interim legislature. 86-year-old, Bal Bahadur Rai of NC is the senior most leader of the interim parliament.
