Irate locals of Birgunj shut down markets in Birgunj today following a road accident.

The locals shut down markets after Prabendra Kumar DC of Chhapkaiya, Birgunj, died on the spot when his motorcycle was hit by a tanker with registration number NA 2 KHA 6165, headed for Birgunj from Raksaul near Inarwa today.

Locals started demonstrating alleging that the accident was caused due to negligence of the tanker driver.

Police have taken the driver of the tanker, Raj Kumar Poudel, of Makwanpur Manhari, into custody for investigation.

Irate locals also vandalized over one dozen vehicles during the shut down.
