Ending the long deadlock, the government appointed vice-chancellors in three universities on Monday.

Prof. Dr Madhav Prasad Sharma, Prof. Dr Ram Avatar Yadav and Bidur Poudel have been appointed vice-chancellors of Tribhuvan University, Purwanchal University and Nepal Sanskrit University respectively.

They were appointed according to the recommendation of an advisory panel formed by the government. Appointment in Pokhara University will be made soon, it is learnt.

The four universities had remained without the vice-chancellors for over eight months. Student unions and administrations staff of these universities had carried out several rounds of protests demanding appointments in the universities.
