General Secretary of the CPN-UML, second largest party of the coalition government, Madhav Kumar Nepal, has urged Non Residential Nepalis (NRNs) to assist them by presenting international experiences about dual citizenship.
Speaking at an interaction in Sydney, Australia organized by NRN Australia, General Secretary Nepal said though the UML is positive about providing dual citizenship to NRNs, it is undecided about the facilities to be provided to NRNs so the NRNs should help by providing real information about dual citizenship.
A press statement issued by NRN Australia said the interaction mainly focused on the dual citizenship, the NRN bill presented at the parliament and contribution of NRN for socio economic development of the country.
Vice-Chairperson of NRN International Coordination Committee Indra Wan presented a memorandum to UML General Secretary Nepal, while Advisor of NRN Australia Dr. Narayan Pradhan presented a memorandum to chief whip of CPN-UML Mahendra Bahadur Pandey.
Lawmaker Pandey pointed out the need of more study and investigation about dual citizenship.
Speaking at the same interaction, General Secretary of the Federation of Indigenous Nationalities Dr. Om Gurung expressed the Federation’s solidarity to dual citizenship to NRNs.
