Cadres of the Maoist party abducted Biswonath Shah, principal of the Janasewa Secondary School of Siraha, from his residence at Karjanha VDC in Siraha district late last night.

According to locals, a group of Maoist cadres kidnapped Shah and took him to an unknown location on the charge of committing irregularities in the school’s finances.

Claiming the responsibility of Shah’s kidnap, Maoist district secretary Abinash said that his party activists apprehended Shah on the basis of the complaints filed by the locals that he was involved in misappropriating school’s fund. “He will be released after necessary interrogation,” Abinash said.

The meeting attended by local representatives of the eight parties held a few days ago had decided to make public the financial condition of the school in a week’s time and in view of this, according to locals, Shah’s abduction by the Maoists was entirely unnecessary.
