According to Oli, who headed a cabinet task force to advise the government on actions based on the Commission’s report, the report gives clean chit to King Gyanendra. He said that the report says there is no need to take action against the King since the latter came out with April 24 proclamation, which ushered in big political change.
“Since Rayamajhi Commission did not give appropriate recommendations, we did not find it proper to implement it,” said Oli, according to Kantipur daily.
Oli further said that his task force was not mandated to conduct any inquiry and it could not advise more action than recommended by the commission.
The members of the Commission, however, have been claiming that they have recommended action against the King, in his capacity as then head of the government.
The high-level probe commission headed by former Supreme Court judge Krishna Jung Rayamajhi had been formed immediately after the success of last year’s Jana Andolan II with the objective of recommending action against those found responsible for repressing the movement.
