In what appears to be the first serious climbing mishap in the current climbing season, two foreign climbers attempting to scale Mt Dhaulagiri in western Nepal have gone missing since Thursday.

Dario Bracali, an Argentine national, and an unidentified Spanish climber went missing from Dhaulagiri Mountain’s Camp 3 while attempting to climb the seven tallest (8,167-metre) mountain.

A four-member rescue team headed by Padam Ghale from Himalayan Rescue Association Nepal (HRAN) is currently in Dhaulagiri base camp on a search and rescue mission.

Reports said chances of finding the two missing foreign climbers who were solo climbers alive are said to be very slim. nepalnews.com ag May 09 08
