The Chure Bhawar Ekata Samaj (CBES) has asked the government to dismiss Minister Rajendra Mahato and take action against him.

Expressing enrage over Minister Mahato’s recent remarks, the CBES held a press meet in the capital on Monday. It has threatened to intensify its agitation if action is not taken against the Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies.

President of CBES Keshab Mainali warned that situation could take a serious turn if the government does not take initiative to resolve the problem before they are forced to announce agitation.

In the press meet, the CBES distributed statements accusing the government of indifference despite ‘communal attack against people of hilly origin in Terai.’

Minister Mahato, on May 11, while addressing a programme in Birgunj had said that people of hilly origin can stay in Terai only if they agree to be ruled by Madhesi people. Otherwise, they should leave Terai, Mahato was quoted as saying.

In Biratngar, on Monday, Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala also expressed sadness over Mahato’s remarks. “A minister should be careful about what he speaks,” he said.
