Life across the terai region has been thrown out of gear with continued bandhs and demonstrations by various groups in recent days.

On Thursday, some districts in central terai have been affected on the second day of bandh called by unfamiliar and underground group named Terai Cobra.

Markets and schools remain closed in Bara, Parsa, and Rautahat districts. Highways and local roads, except east-west highway remain deserted.

Similarly, the medical staffs in Janakpur hospital announced indefinite closure of the hospital to protest the beating of their co-workers on Wednesday.

On Wednesday, a group of students had vandalised the hospital and thrashed medical staffs accusing them of not treating one Deepak Kumar Yadav well. Yadav had died on Monday while undergoing treatment in the hospital.

The hospital staffs have demanded action against the assailants.

Meanwhile, the Maoist affiliate Tharu National Liberation Front has announced two-day vehicular strike in five terai districts in mid and far western region from Thursday. Their chakkajam has affected transport movement in Banke, Bardiya, Dang, Kailali and Kanchanpur districts.

The front has demanded immediate release of all the YCL cadres arrested by the police.

Similarly, traffic has been disrupted in Lahan bazaar in Siraha on Thursday morning after students of J. S. Murarka School started demonstrating against the police.

The students have accused that drunken policeman had beat one of the students of the school, Pappu Yadav, on Wednesday evening.
