Both the Boeings of the Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) remain grounded for several days, leaving hundreds of passengers stranded.

The national flag carrier has not been able to conduct its international flights since one week with frequent mechanical problems with its fleet. On Wednesday, NAC’s scheduled flights to New Delhi, Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur were cancelled on short notice.

A Boeing 757 is undergoing maintenance in Brunei while another plane is grounded in Dubai airport since Tuesday. The NAC Boeing, which had flown to Dubai Tuesday evening, will return on Thursday after maintenance while the one in Brunei will return on Friday, a statement issued by the NAC said.

According to the NAC, flights will resume from Friday and that the stranded passengers would get accommodations in five-star hotels in Katmandu.

On Tuesday, Dubai-bound passengers had staged protest at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) against the cancellation of flight affecting the international flights from the TIA for over four hours. Irate passengers had protested against the flight cancellation Wednesday as well, prompting a public apology from the NAC management.

The NAC conducts direct flights to New Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai, Dubai, Singapore, Bangkok, Hong Kong, Osaka, Shanghai and Kuala Lumpur.
