The Government of India has agreed to provide a grant assistance of Rs 2.4 billion to Nepal for the implementation of various small-scale projects at the local level.

Finance secretary Dr Bhoj Raj Ghimire and Indian ambassador to Nepal Shiv Shankar Mukherjee signed an agreement to this effect at a program organised at the Finance Ministry Thursday, according to official news agency RSS.

Quoting the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, RSS said the grant assistance will be spent on education, health and infrastructure development projects at the local level.

This is the latest agreement in a series of Indian assistance to Nepal after the recent political change. A few days earlier India pledged Rs 8 billion assistance to Nepal for infrastructure projects in the Terai region.
