One of the members of the Maoist talks team, Dina Nath Sharma, told Nepalnews that the leaders duo discussed about the recent political developments in Nepal with the Indian envoy.
They also urged the government of India to release Nepali Maoist leaders currently being detained in various Indian jails, including senior Maoist leaders Mohan Baidya and CP Gajurel, and also sought Indian assistance in Nepal’s peace process.
According to CPN (Maoist), there are more than 140 Maoists in various jails of India.
The Indian embassy in Kathmandu has said nothing regarding the meeting.
When asked about on-going consultations between Maoist chairman Prachanda and SPA leaders, Sharma said the meetings were follow-up to the eight point agreement between the SPA and Maoist leadership early this month.

After arriving in Kathmandu on Saturday, the Maoist supreme has held discussions with senior leaders of Nepali Congress, CPN (UML), Nepal Workers and Peasants Party, Nepali Congress (Democratic) and Nepal Sadbhawana Party (Anandidevi), among others.
In an interview with the party’s mouthpiece, Janadesh weekly on Tuesday, Prachanda said preparations are going on for second round of “summit level” talks with the SPA leaders. He, however, did not say when those talks would be held.
