Deputy Prime Ministers KP Sharma Oli, Amik Sherchan, Speaker Subash Nemwang, ministers and other high-ranking government officials were present at Tribhuvan International Airport to receive the octogenarian leader.

Talking to journalists upon his arrival, Prime Minister Koirala said talks with Maoist supremo Prachanda will take place only after a few days. He added that the government will first hold discussions with political parties, civil society and other activists prior to the summit talks.

Maoist Supremo Prachanda and senior party leader Dr Baburam Bhattarai are holding discussions with leaders of the seven-party alliance as a preparation for the next round of summit talks.

When asked about his health, Koirala said he had no ailments currently and he would be involved in active politics.

Koirala did not comment on the Nepal Army’s retort on Prachanda’s comments and added, “I will get information in this regard before commenting on it.”

On Monday, Prime Minister Koirala met with Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra in Bangkok and held discussions on matters of bi-lateral interests.

Koirala had undergone a successful operation of prostrate gland, through laser, on Wednesday morning and was discharged from the hospital the next day.

The octogenarian leader was suffering from urine-related complications for quite some time.

Koirala had left for Bangkok for treatment last Saturday (June 17), one day after holding high-level talks with the Maoist chairman Prachanda.

Dr Shekhar Koirala, Dr Shashanka Koirala and the PM’s personal physician Dr Madhu Ghimire accompanied Koirala in his visit to Bangkok.
