The ‘Himalaya Film Festival Tokyo 2006’, an international film festival for documentaries on the Himalayan region will be held in August, 2006 in Japan.

According to the Himalaya Film Festival Executive Committee, the festival started by Himalaya Archief Nederland, a Dutch NGO, began in 2003 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

A press release issued by the organizers said the Tokyo Festival will rethink the relationship between humans and nature in the context of the Himalayas.

The festival coincides with the 50th anniversary of the successful ascent of Mt Manasulu by a Japanese climbing expedition and also the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Nepal and Japan.
