Issuing a press statement Sunday, RJP chairman and former Prime Minister Surya Bahadur Thapa said, “The RJP is seriously concerned over the latest political developments, reactions and controversies within the parties after the 8-point agreement on June 16.”

Lack of preparations and failure to include all concerned sides as well as some grave procedural mistakes from the responsible parties have led to uncertainty, Thapa said.

He also lamented the comments regarding the Nepali Army saying that such comments were ‘disparaging and demoralizing’. “If it continues,” he said, “It may create regrettable situation.”

The RJP chief further said the main agenda at present is the management of arms. “There are several experiences and models [of arms management] from around the world and Nepal has also learned something by now. It is necessary for the ruling side to learn something,” he said, asking the SPA to realize its mistakes and make changes in strategy and procedures.
