The coordinator of the high-level Judicial Probe Commission formed to probe atrocities committed in suppressing the people’s movement in the country, Krishna Jung Rayamajhi, has asked the House of Representative to fulfill its commitment of implementing the recommendations of the commission.
Speaking at a programme in Nepalgunj on Thursday, Rayamajhi said, “Though the government and the seven-party leaders are saying that they will implement the recommendations of the commission honestly, the commitment of the House is not evident as yet.”
Reports quoted Rayamajhi as saying that if the report was not implemented, the people would not forgive them. If the government and parliament do not implement it, I will not remain silent, he said.
Rayamajhi is in Banke to probe incidents of violation of human rights during the recent Jana Andolan.
A team of the commission visited Bheri Zonal Hospital and met the injured there. The injured were sent to the capital on Thursday.
The team also received information from the families of martyrs, seven political parties and other stakeholders about atrocities unleashed on agitators during the time of the Jana Andolan (People’s movement).
