The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has said Friday that the whereabouts of 1,159 persons out of 1,742 people, said to have been disappeared by the state, have already been made public.
Likewise, the NHRC said that the whereabouts of 410 out of 742 persons said to have been disappeared by the Maoists, had also been made public.
Holding a press conference on Friday, the NHRC said that investigations were on on 583 and 332 persons said to have been disappeared by the security forces and the Maoists respectively.
The commission also said that the whereabouts of 15 of the 71 persons said to have been disappeared by unidentified people, had been made public.
Speaking at the press conference, member of the NHRC Sudip Pathak said that the commission has already informed the Home Minister, Nepal Army and Nepal Police about the case and nature of the disappearances.
The families of disappeared people by the state are organizing phase wise protest programme to pressurize the government to make public whereabouts of their family members.
