India has extended assistance of Rs 71,73,706/- for construction of school building and compound wall for Galaxy Secondary School, Adarsha Nagar, Birgunj.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed Thursday between the Embassy of India, the District Development Committee, Parsa and Galaxy Secondary School, Adarsha Nagar, a press statement by the Indian embassy in Kathmandu said.
The project will be executed by the District Development Committee, Parsa. An Oversight Committee consisting of the Chairman of School Management Committee, District Education Officer, Parsa and Engineer, DDC, Parsa has been constituted to oversee the project and supervise and ensure proper utilisation of the grant assistance.
The implementation of the project would immediately benefit the 250 economically underprivileged children of the school and add to the improvement of education facilities in Parsa district, the statement said.
The grant is part of Government of India’s commitment of Rs 1800 crore towards economic cooperation with Government of Nepal, under which 138 projects are being undertaken in 61 districts, the statement further said.
