Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs K.P Sharma Oli met with Indian Prime Minister Dr. Man Mohan Singh on the sidelines of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Summit in Cuba’s Havana on Sunday.

Dr Singh said that India wanted to see peace prevail in Nepal, as it would be in the interest of both the countries, a MoFA statement said.

During the meeting, the two leaders shared information on various aspects of economic and political developments taking place in their respective countries.
Nepal´s candidacy to a non-permanent seat of the United Nations Security Council for 2007-2008 also figured during the discussion. President Mugabe assured that his government would look into Nepal’s request in a positive light.
Likewise, the DPM also met with the President of the Republic of Bolivia, Evo Ayma Morales and asked him to extend support to Nepal´s candidacy to a non-permanent seat of the Security Council. “President Morales responded by saying that his government would give the matter a favourable consideration,” MoFA said.
