Minister for Education and Sports Dr Mangal Siddhi Manandhar has said the peace process has been delayed due to differences among the cabinet members.

Speaking in a ceremony at the Padma Kanya Campus to hand over the newly constructed hostel building, Dr Manandhar said differences among the ministers regarding the interim constitution, interim parliament and arms management of the Maoists have delayed the peace process.

He said the government has been spending time in unimportant and minor works leaving behind the major political issues.

Dr Manandhar also highlighted the contribution of the Japanese government for development in Nepal and urged for more support to promote and improve the education system here.

Speaking on the occasion, Japanese ambassador to Nepal, Tsutomu Hiraoka, stressed the need for promoting girls education for the economic and social development of Nepal.

The Japan government provided a grant assistance of about Rs 32 million for the construction of the building under the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP). It is the largest project supported under the GGP scheme in terms of financial amount provided in Nepal.

The newly constructed hostel has 200 beds.

Japan is one of the major donors for development of Nepal.
