Deputy Prime Minister KP Oli has reiterated that the interim government, constitution and the date of the constituent assembly elections will be finalized only after management of arms possessed by the Maoists.

Oli charged the Maoists with trying to overshadow the issue of arms management in the name of a package deal, after agreeing to everything earlier, reports said.

“Sidelining the issue of arms management does not aide the peace process,” Oli added.

DPM Oli, who also holds the foreign affairs portfolio, was addressing a press conference at his office on the government’s achievement over 100 days of its inception.

Oli further alleged that the Maoists were backtracking from the earlier accords signed with the ruling alliance and wielding weapons in public.

The Deputy Prime Minister went on to claim that the rebels were hastening to join the interim government while they were not honest about dissolving their people’s government.

Meanwhile, Oli claimed that the foreign ministry has made a number of achievements in the 100 days.

He added the government would take a decisive step to address the Bhutanese refugee impasse.

Oli said that the Bhutan’s passivity in the process is not acceptable to Nepal and warned that the government would be compelled to opt for options that would be acceptable to the refugees if the Druk regime did not mend its ways.

More than 100 thousand refugees are languishing in seven UNHCR-administered camps in eastern Nepal after they were systematically evicted from their ancestral homes in southern Bhutan towards 1990.
