Reports from mid-western district of Rolpa say Maoists have abducted five civilians affiliated with the Rolpa Drinking Water Project, Wednesday.
The Maoists took them into control on the charge of spending the village development committees’ VDC’s budget for the project without informing them.
Those abducted have been identified as Nanda Prasad Oli, Som Prasad Khatri and Puran Bahadur Oli of Rolpa Jankot VDC-9 and Kewal Prasad Oli and Biswa Dagi of Jankot VDC-6.
The National Human Rights Commission office at Rolpa has requested the Maoists for the unconditional release of those abducted and to respect citizen’s right to life urging them to defend the International Humanitarian Laws and human rights.
Despite holding talks with the government, Maoists are continuing their acts of abduction and extortion in various parts of the country.
