Save the Children Alliance, Plan Nepal and the Consortium of the Organisations working with Child Clubs are jointly organising a National Child Club Conference with the theme, “Bringing about Change…. Children’s Rights to Participation” from September 5 to 7 in Budanilkantha Kathmandu.
According to organizers, about 80 children from 34 districts of the five development regions, subjected to subjugation of different forms are participating in the conference.
They are conflict-affected children, children with disabilities, economically exploited children and those displaced from their homes.
Speaking at the press conference Thursday to give information about the conference, advocacy advisor of Save the Children Norway Nupur Bhattacharya said that the children would discuss about their rights to participate in the process of developing the National Plan of Action and the National policies. Similarly they would discuss about the process towards constituent assembly and the drawing of a new constitution.
Bhattacharya said that children would be presenting their government observations and recommendations, views and action plans to the dignitaries from key government ministers, UNICEF, representatives from various I/NGOs, civil society and the representatives of media houses to ensure children’s voices heard.
The conference would discuss on the modalities of promoting and ensuring children’s active participation in the process of various planning and policy development affecting children, and their implementation, she said.
