JTMM demands one million rupees for release of two engineers: Report

The Janatantrik Terai Mukti Morcha (JTMM) has demanded one million rupees for the release of two engineers of Nepal Telecom (NT), Saptari, they had abducted on Tuesday.

The Himalayan Times daily quoted the secretary of the Eastern Regional Committee of Nepal Telecommunication Employees’ Association, Mohan Phuyal, as saying that the JTMM activists demanded the ransom in a telephone call to the engineers’ family members.

He further informed that the activists of the JTMM had abducted two NT employees engineers Prashant Babu Tiwari and Gyanesh Dangal, line man Prem Mandal and driver Rudra Pandey from the Kunauli area in Saptari.

Mandal and Pandey were, however, released the same night, Phuyal said.

Meanwhile, it has been revealed that activists of the JTMM also abducted three persons from Srilanka Tappu in Sunsari last Monday.

The JTMM has demanded Rs 300,000 from each family for the release of Bhim Chandrabanshi, Laxman Chandrabanshi and Baiju Yadav, family members said.
