Chairman of the Rastriya Janashakti Party (RJP) Surya Bahadur Thapa has stressed the need for a front among democratic forces to meet the objectives of an election to a constituent assembly.

Issuing a press statement Tuesday, the former Prime Minister said a democratic front is needed to end all kind of autocracy and to provide opportunity for forming new constitution by holding the election of the constituent assembly in a free and fair manner.

He further said that a unified role, based on common thought among democratic forces, is inevitable to establish people’s sovereignty and political stability at present in the county.

Thapa has also urged all democratic forces to join the Front realizing the gravity of the situation. “The ruling alliance should realize the gravity of the situation and work seriously in this regard,” Thapa added.

Thapa further said that a new constitution through Constituent Assembly elections in a free and fair manner is the need of the hour.

Thapa’s proposal for the democratic front comes when the Left factions of the ruling alliance and the Maoists are calling for a republican front in the run up to the constituent assembly polls.
