The 12th meeting of the central committee of the CPN (UML) continued at the party’s central office, Balkhu, on Thursday as well.
Though the meeting was to end today, it continued as the discussion on the key issues including the political report presented by party general secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal were not over, a UML source said. Few central committee members are yet to comment on Nepal’s report.
Six central leaders including senior leaders Bharat Mohan Adhikari and Bamdev Gautam presented their views during today’s meeting. Most speakers welcomed the agreement between the government and the CPN (Maoist) to send a joint letter to the UN but they expressed unhappiness over the performance of the government and the parliament, according to the source.
Central member and minister Pradeep Gyawali, who is also a member of the government’s talks team, explained about Wednesday’s agreement between the government and the Maoists and expressed confidence that peace process would now gain pace.
The meeting will finalise the party’s overall policy including its position on issues like restructuring of the state, the proposed interim government, interim parliament and the election to constituent assembly.
The general secretary had presented his political report on Saturday when the central committee meeting kicked off.
Friday’s session will start at 11:00 a.m., according to the party.
