In a clear violation of their commitment and repeated assurances of party leadership not to create obstacle to industrial sectors, Maoist have barred the supply of Wai-Wai instant noodles and Tuborg and Carlsberg beer from the factories claiming that the two companies had not paid “tax” to the rebels.
According to newspaper reports, the rebels have imposed restriction on supply of Wai-Wai instant noodle of Chaudhari Group and Tuborg and Carlsberg beer of Gorkha Brewery from the factories at Dumkauli and Mukundapur village development committee of Nawalparasi district.
The Kantipur daily quoted a Maoist source as saying that the ban has been imposed as per the orders of the district people’s government.
“The two factories have not paid tax to the people’s government despite several requests, so the ban has been imposed to make them pay the tax,” the Maoist source added.
The paper further said, Maoist people’s government chief Chinak Kurmi effused to comment in the issue saying district secretary Tanka Mani will have more information in this regard.
Maoist cadres have been guarding the main gates of both the factories.
Meanwhile, factory sources say that they will be forced to close down the factories if the ban is not lifted by Saturday.
There has been no let up in Maoist excesses despite their commitment to join the politics of competition.
