Chief of the District Land Reform Office Rautahat injured when some unidentified people detonated a bomb targeting the office, Thursday.

Chief of the office Madan Krishna Upreti sustained shrapnel injuries on his temple, when a pipe bomb went off near Upreti’s office room at around 4.45 p.m.

Upreti is undergoing treatment at the hospital and out of danger.

Office documents were also destroyed in the incident.

Rautahat in charge of Maoists, Kumar said that his party was not involved in the incident.

According to The Kathmandu Post daily, Janatantrik Terai Mukti Morcha (JTMM), a breakaway faction of Maoists owned the responsibility of the explosion.

The paper writes, JTMM commissar Arjun Yadav told the paper that the bomb was exploded as a challenge to the government.
