UML general secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal has said that the parliament could be dissolved after incorporating Maoists in an interim government only after the Maoist’s arms management.

Addressing a programme of Bagmati zonal level cadres of the party, General Secretary Nepal said, “The issues of Maoist arms management and the observance of the code of conduct can create complications in moving forward.”
He also said that the alliance and the rebels need to pay due attention to what the international community has to say, as it also wants to see a peaceful election to a constituent assembly.
Nepal’s response came at a time when the United States called on Maoists to abandon weapons and their military before joining the interim government and warned of stalling American assistance if they failed to do so.
Citing instances of the Maoists violating the ceasefire code of conduct in the mid and far-western regions, Nepal said that people in the two regions complained that they had to seek permission from the Maoists while leaving and entering their own villages.
Nepal informed that there is lack of regular contact and discussion among the alliance partners. “Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister KP Oli is trying to meet Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala for the past five days, but to no avail,” Nepal added.
He also alleged that UML ministers have not been given free hand to run their ministries and many appointments are pending as the Cabinet had failed to hold its meeting.
