Prime Minister, ministers, secretaries take oath of office

Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala, members of the council of ministers, chief secretary and secretaries of the government of Nepal took oath of the office and secrecy on Tuesday.

Prime Minister Koirala, who could not attend the oath taking ceremony due to his ill-health signed the oath letter at Intensive Care Unit of Martyr Gangalal National Heart Center.

Similarly Deputy Prime Ministers duo KP Sharma Oli and Amik Sherchan, ministers, state ministers took oath of office and secrecy at the Parliament building.

Officiating chief secretary and secretaries of the government of Nepal also took oath of office and secrecy as per the provision mentioned at the historic proclamation of the House of Representatives.

Speaker Subash Chandra Nemwang also administered oath of office and secrecy to the members of parliament who had missed out on June 28.

The HoR has decided to take fresh oath as per the historic proclamation on May 18.

Former Prime Minister and lawmaker Krishna Prasad Bhattrai also signed the oath taking letter as he could not attend the parliament session due to ill-health.

The HoR proclamation earlier said all the officials holding public office must take oath of office before the special committee of the HoR and would lose their jobs if they refused.

Speaker Subash Chandra Nemwang took oath of office and administered oath of office to the members of reinstated House of Representatives (HoR) and members of the National Assembly on June 28.
