India pledges support for peace-building and democratization in Nepal: Deuba

Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has pledged support for peace-building and democratization in Nepal.

The Indian premier pledged this support during his meeting with former Prime Minister and President of Nepali Congress Democratic, Sher Bahadur Deuba on Saturday.

“He has assured all kinds of support for the democratic forces in Nepal. He was positive,” reports quoted Deuba as saying.

After his half-an-hour-long meeting with Singh, Deuba said, “I asked for India’s support to consolidate democracy and establish peace in Nepal.”

Former premier Deuba also held talks with a string of Indian political leaders including Communist Party of India – Marxist Politburo Member Sitaram Yechuri.

He also held consultations with leaders of 13 different political parties in India, that come under the umbrella of Nepal Democracy Solidarity Committee, which was formed after Feb 1, 2005.

Deuba is returning home on Sunday.
