The 10th South Asian Games which is to be staged in Sri Lanka in mid-August has got the maximum support from participating countries, the Sri Lankan NOC chief Hemasiri Fernando said yesterday at a press briefing held at the Information Ministry auditorium, reports said.
The online dailynews.lk quoted Fernando as saying that all arrangements have been finalised to house the participants and officials, expected to be around 2500.
There will be over 100 media personnel arriving in the island for this mega event. It was proposed to increase the number of media to 10 percent of the contingent, but a meeting held in Maldives could not get approval from the participating countries.
The organizer committee has also vowed to provide all facilities to spectators to attract them to the tournament venue. The main sponsor for the event will be Mobitel along with many other co-sponsors.
The South Asian Games (SAG) is the mega sports event for South Asian countries comprising of 20 disciplines.
