A senior Maoist leader has said the Maoists were sincere towards the 25-point ceasefire code of conduct.
Speaking at a press meet organised by Journalists’ Society, in Butwal on Tuesday, central committee member Suresh Ale Magar, said, “We are committed to the 25-point code of conduct, the state should also do the same.”
Maoist leader Ale Magar said the Maoists want to overthrow monarchy through a referendum. Ale Magar said that they will soon join an interim government that replaces the incumbent one.
Ale Magar further charged that a conspiracy has been hatched against the election of the constituent assembly and warned that there will be another revolt if the election of the constituent assembly was thwarted.
He said the Maoists had reservations over some points of the recently announced government’s policies and programmes and that they would also disagree on the budget if it was announced without consulting the Maoists.
On the issue of extortion, Ale Magar said that they will collect donations till the government sought foreign aid. He however claimed that they are not forcing people to give donations and collecting only voluntary donations.
