Former Prime Minister Lokendra Bahadur Chand and chairman of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) Pashupati Shumsher Rana met Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala at the latter’s residence at Baluwatar Monday and discussed the latest political development of the country.

According to sources, the PM first met Rana for half an hour and discussed the latest political development of the country following the agreement between the ruling seven party alliance (SPA) and Maoists and the position of the RPP in the interim legislature.

Stating that the agreement is an example to the whole world, Prime Minister Koirala urged RPP Chief Rana to assist in the implementation of the agreement.

The RPP has been criticizing the ruling SPA for bypassing other parliamentary parties while taking important decisions in the country.

Immediately after the meeting between RPP Chief Rana and PM Koirala, another senior RPP leader and former Prime Minister Lokendra Bahadur Chand also met with PM Koirala and discussed the latest political development of the country.

Both the leaders discussed about the historic agreement between ruling SPA and Maoists, formation of interim legislature and interim government among others. Koirala said support from all sides, including the smaller parties in the parliament, was crucial for peaceful landing of the decade long Maoist insurgency.

The ruling SPA and Maoist agreed to form a 330 member interim legislature including Maoists in place of the existing House of Representatives.

This is the first time PM Koirala met leaders of other parties (outside the SPA) after signing the agreement with the Maoists last week.
