Chief of the Army Staff (CoAS) General Pyar Jung Thapa has visited the Shree Birendra Peacekeeping training centre in Panchkhal and observed demonstrations of various peacekeeping activities performed by the Shree Shumserdal Battalion (Peacekeeping Force) Sixth contingent, which is going to the African country of Democratic Republic Congo, and Shree Ranasinghdal Battalion (Peacekeeping Force) fourth contingent, which is going to the Carribean country of Haiti in a peacekeeping mission of the United Nations.

A press statement issued by the Directorate of Public Relations of Nepal Army, said chiefs of the Battalion presented their report about their mission to the CoAS Thapa on the occasion.
Altogether 1,600 army men are participating in these two peacekeeping missions under the United Nations.
Addressing the peacekeepers, CoAS Thapa said that participation of Nepali soldiers in the peacekeeping missions will help to increase the glory of the country and will also contribute to the national economy.
Stating that the act of maintaining peace is challenging, CoAS Thapa urged all army men to fulfill their responsibilities skillfully.
Lieutenant Generals and officials of the Nepal Army were also present on the occasion.
