The National Sports Council (NSC) is speeding up preparation for the upcoming South Asian Games (SAG) and is busy selecting and sending players to different countries for practice and training, analyzing the medal prospects in the extravaganza.

After the kabbaddi team left for Patna, India, the NSC coordinated a 23-member karate team that left for Malaysia for a 21-day training as part of their preparations. The NSC is hoping for a number of medals in the karate events.
The players in men’s section are Rabindra Dahal (50kg), Ram Limbu (55), Deepak Shrestha (60), Kushal Shrestha (65), Bikram Meche (70), Niroj Karmacharya (75), Binod Shakya (80), Ram Sharan Twaty (80+kg), Ganga Ram Maharjan (single kata) and Nir Bahadur Moktan, Kedar Simkhada, Ganesh Bahadur Thing, Purnaman Balami (team kata)
Thee women players are Krishna Kala KC (48kg), Amrita Shakya (53), Sulochana Sinjakho (single kata) and Subhadra Shrestha, Roji Nagarkoti, Sangita Dangol, Remika Rai (team kata). Team manager Anandu Lama, coaches Deepak Shrestha (Kumite) and Hira Singh Dangol (Kata) are also accompanying the players.
The SAG is being held in Colombo, Sri Lanka from August 18-28.
