The King made this observation after granting a collective audience to the Chairmen and Vice-Chairmen of the District Development Committees (DDC) at the Dhaulagiri Zonal Administration Office Wednesday.
“There has been some improvement but there is still a lot to be achieved. All Nepalis should work towards it,” said the King directing the chairmen and the deputies to lay high priority in building sustainable peace, as per the wishes of the people.
Observing that much of the districts in Dhaulagiri zone are without roads, the King directed the chairmen and the deputies to lay priority in linking the north and south while building road networks so that Nepal can reap benefits from the developments in the two neighboring countries, China and India.
The King also urged people to make their country a transit point and take advantage of the progress being made by neighboring countries.
Referring to the ongoing construction of Jomsom-Myagdi road, the King said the construction of road would take some time due to its geographic hurdles but said the government and other agencies are committed to complete it.
While recollecting his visit to the Dhaulagri Zone one and half years ago, the king said that the situation has now changed from what it was back then.
The King and the Queen, as part of the tour of the Western Development region, are scheduled to visit Butwal today.
