Police today showed the press Rs 1.4 million worth of commodities looted by the gang from households and government offices in Kathmandu.
Clad in army or police uniform, they used to barge into households – mostly at night – brandishing fake revolvers, threaten the inhabitants and loot cash, jewels and other valuables. Rs.45,000 cash and army and police dresses have been recovered from them.
“They used to observe the activities in and around their targets and after a few days they would executive their robbery plan,” police Superintendent Binod Singh of Valley Crime Investigation Brach told reporters.
The gang was active in Teku, Kupandol, Kirtipur, Dhapasi and Naikap areas. The arrested gang members are from Kathmandu and Dhading.
Three other members of the gang are on the run and a search for them is underway, police said.
