Three Nepali joint venture banks have been listed as the 500 largest in the Asia and Pacific region by the prestigious Asiaweek, a weekly magazine published from Hong Kong.
Himalayan Bank, Standard Chartered Bank Nepal and Nepal Arab Bank have been mentioned in the Sept.14 issue of the magazine. The Himalayan Bank has the largest share in deposits and lendings among the joint venture banks inside Nepal.
The Himalayan Bank, a joint venture bank with Pakistan’s Habib Bank Ltd, has a return on equity of 37.9 percent-13th highest in the region. Standard Chartered Bank Nepal and Nepal Arab Bank equity returns are 11 and 17 percent respectively.
