Kathmandu, August 25: Japan’s Prime Minister Yoshihiro Mori arrived at the Tribhuvan International Airport some time ago for six hour stop in Nepal, the last leg of his week-long South Asia visit.

Mori arrived on a Royal Nepal Airlines aircraft from New Delhi and is to hold talks with Nepali Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala this afternoon. Mori is also scheduled to meet King Birendra before heading to back to Delhi to catch his flight home later in the evening.

Diplomatic sources say on Mori’s agenda is drumming support for Japan’s agenda to reform the United Nations, and support for a posible seat as permanent member of the Security Council if the reforms are approved.

Nepal supports the reform agenda, which is something that members of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) have been advocating for several years, sources added.

Mori’s South Asian tour included stops in India, Bangladesh and Pakistan.
