Cholera Kills Six in Gorkha

Kathmandu,Aug.26: Cholera has killed at least six persons until Wednesday and infected 31 others in Laptak village in Gorkha district recently, health officials said. The reports are preliminary and more details are awaited, regional health officials in Pokhara said.

Laptak is two hours walking distance from district headquarters. A health team has been despatched to the village which is suffering from acute food shortage. Meanwhile, the encephalitis death toll in villages around Dhangadi has swelled to 26 as more than 220 persons have been treated for the vector borne disease, reports from west Nepal said Saturday.
