Kathmandu, August 28: Communist Party of Nepal ( Marxist-Leninist) has announced that it is to launch a ” new revolution” in order to liberate the people from all forms of exploitations and political and economic perversions.

In an interaction with the press in Kathmandu on Sunday, general secretary of the party Bamdev Gautam said that the recently concluded central committee meeting of the party endorsed the political report of the general secretary which emphasises the need for ” new revolution” in the country as the present model of political system failed to solve country’s and people’s problems.

CPN-ML’s new revolution would be akin to the one the underground Maoist Communist Party has launched for the last five years seeking to overthrow monarchy and multi-party system.

Gautam, however, said that his party’s revolution has no relation with Maoist party’s insurgency.

“Although our party’s goal is a republican state and one-party communist rule, it is not possible in the near future”, he said.

According to him, the immediate objective of his party’s revolution would be to bring about reforms in the present political system and make it more people-oriented.

It seeks reforms in electoral system to make election free, fair and impartial, proportional representation, and transparent government. Gautam did not elaborate the forms, nature and time of the revolution his party is launch.
