Kathmandu, August 29: Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala is to attend the United Nations Millenium Summit to be held in New York from September 6.
According to Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Prime Minister Koirala would leave for New York on September 3. He would stop overnight in Brussels en route to New York.
Prime Minister Koirala would attend the opening of the millenium summit of the United Nations in which 150 heads of state or government would take part, Foreign Ministry statement says.
On the same day, he would attend the luncheon hosted by UN Secretary General Kofi Annan and also attend the second meeting of the UN summit.
On September 7, Prime Minister Koirala is to address the millenium summit. On the same day, he is to meet with American president Bill Clinton in New York. Asia Society is to host luncheon discussion with Prime Minister Koirala.
On September 9, Koirala would leave New York and arrive on the same day in Geneva where he would meet and discuss representatives of Nepalese missions in Europe. He is also to visit Expo-2000 in Hanover in Germany on September 13. He would return to Kathmandu on September 16’.
