Kathmandu, August 14: Monday’s meeting of the House of Representatives, Lower House of Parliament, was disrupted as both ruling and opposition lawmakers objected the recent remarks of Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala about the behavior of parliamentarians and demanded clarification from t he Prime Minster on that issue.
Prime Minister had said in a public function in Kathmandu on Friday that some smugglers have entered into parliament.
As soon as Monday’s meeting of the House of Representatives began lawmakers of both ruling and opposition parties asked the Prime Minister to specifically spell out the names of smugglers in parliament and take action against them.
All opposition members then boycotted the meeting, as Prime Minster did not turn up to answer and clarify.
As the opposition bench was empty, deputy Speaker Chitralekha Yadav adjourned the House until August 17.
