Mahendranagar, Feb. 25: A two-day women and child awareness seminar organised by the Ministry of Women and Social Welfare concluded in Khalanga, the headquarters of Darchula district recently.
Fifty persons including members of the district child welfare committee, representatives of NGOs and local bodies and guardians took part in the seminar.
On the occasion, under-secretary at the Ministry Bhupendra Poudel spoke on the need of educating the children and at the same time protecting their rights. He also shed light on the objectives of the seminar.
From the chair, Chief District Officer Bed Prakash Lekhak said that it was the responsibility of the society to ensure healthy mental and physical development of the child.
The seminar was inaugurated by DDC chairman Ganesh Singh Thagunna.
Meanwhile, youth social workers Kishor Chaudhari and Mrs. Sita Kumari Chaudhari have provided an assistance of Rs 25,000 in cash to the Sarbada Literary Foundation, an institution dedicated to the development of language, literature, art and culture.
According to an agreement signed by Foundation chairman Thakur Belbase and the Chaudharis, the assistance will be utilised in printing post cards bearing pictures of poet laureate Laxmi Prasad Devkota, dramatist Balkrishna Sama, prose writer Bishweshwar Prasad Koirala and novelist Parijat.
The post cards will be published by mid-March, according to the foundation.
