Nepal, India officials meet in Kailali

Dhangadhi, Mar. 4 : A security and goodwill meeting held here recently between the chiefs of local administration in Kailali and Khiri, the bordering districts of Nepal and India respectively, agreed on different matters pertaining to the resolution of a host of problems being faced by Nepalese businessmen on Indian territory.

According to the Kailali Chamber of Commerce and Industry, both the parties consented to allow the entry of Nepalese number plate vehicles into Lakhanau, Bareli, Pilibhit and Rupaidiya for a week with the permission of the district administration office Kailali, take initiative to extend the Indian bus service which is limited to Gauriphanta check point and put up  lists of contraband items at the respective customs offices.

They also agreed to convene meetings monthly between the security officers of both countries in order to exchange information of mutual interests, set up complaints and suggestion boxes at the check posts at Gauriphanta and Tikuniya in India as well as at Nepalese check points in order to avert mistreatment and hassles meted out by employees in  border areas and clamp down on illegal activities.
