Kathmandu, Mar. 8: Mahendra Police Club (MPC) take on Three Star (TC) while Manang Marsyangdi Club (MMC) face Sankata Boys Sports Club (SBSC) in the opener of the final round of Khukuri Gold Cup soccer championship at the Natioal Dashrath Stadium, Thursday.

All together eight teams have made it to the final round.  The teams were selected after first round was played in Chitwan and Nepalgunj.  Some thirty-four teams were on the run in the first round.

Group A consists of Mahendra Police Club (MPC), Manang Marsyangdi Club (MMC), Sankata Boys Sports Cloub (SBSC), and Three Star Cloub (TC).

Likewise, Grop B consists of Tribhuvan Club (TC), Ranipokhari Corner Team (RCT), Friends’ Club of Kupondole  (FCK) and Sunsari.

The matches will be played in league cum knock out basis as two team will qualify from each group to semis.

The championship carries a purse of 2,10,000 for team winning the title, tlhe biggest cash award so far in the Nepalese soccer history.
